Why Pledge?

Let's turn the illegal Malheur NWR occupation against itself! Your per day pledge will be divided equally among the four worthy groups listed below. Starting from January 2, 2016, for each day the illegal occupation of the Malheur NWR continues, your total pledged amount will increase.  So, right now, your total pledged amount would equal your per day pledge x 41.

Join us as we turn the Occupation of Malheur NWR into an #occupyathon for good! With every pledge, we will increase the pressure on the occupants to pack up and GO HOME! Please provide your email and we will contact you for your final contribution when the Malheur NWR is open and public once more #GOHOMEMALHEUR #occupyathon

All pledged dollars will go directly to the four groups listed below. #GOHOMEMALHEUR will not keep any money for administrative fees or personal profit.

PLEASE NOTE: www.GOHOMEmalheur.com has been occupied by the Bundy folks, we are not affiliated with that website.  But the fact that they occupied it means they know we are raising big bucks against them, with their help.  Thank you, Bundys!  Nevertheless, Bundys, et al., please GOHOME!

Americans for Responsible Solutions

On January 8, 2011, a mentally ill man shot Congresswoman Gabby Giffords in the head, killed six others, and wounded 12.  Since that tragedy in Tucson, America has seen too many more mass shootings – but no response from Congress.  This inaction on gun violence was thrown into even starker contrast after the massacre of 20 children and six of their teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
On the second anniversary of the horrific Tucson shooting, Gabby and her husband, retired Navy Captain and astronaut Mark Kelly, launched Americans for Responsible Solutions to encourage elected officials to stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership.  With Americans for Responsible Solutions and likeminded friends engaging millions of people about ways to reduce gun violence and supporting lawmakers willing to take a stand for responsible policies, legislators will no longer have reason to fear the gun lobby and their dangerously deep pockets.

Burns Paiute Tribe

The Burns Paiute Reservation is located north of Burns, Oregon in Harney County.  The current tribal members are primarily the descendants of the "Wadatika" band of Paiute Indians that roamed in central and southern Oregon.  They are the original inhabitants of lands that make up the Malheur NWR.  To honor their stewardship, donations will go to the Tu-Wa-Kii Nobi fund.  In the Paiute language, Tu-Wa-Kii Nobi means “Kid’s House.”  Since March 2, 2012, Tu-Wa-Kii Nobi has served a multitude of purposes for the Tribal Community and its children, including educational opportunities, cultural activities, a safe environment to learn and play and after school tutoring.  Tribal youth, ages 5 to 18 are all welcome and encouraged to attend.
